Two Words: “Hard Work”

I came across this video and it echoes the same messages that I teach everyday in class. The students will know the following phrases from my teachings and they are the same lessons I hope are supported at home. Martial Arts is not just a physical element but psychological; it has to be trained everywhere!

  1. “Never quit, never surrender!”
  2. “‘Good enough’ isn’t good enough”
  3. “99% is not 100%”
  4. “Anyone can train or work hard. What makes us stronger or more successful is that we worker HARDER!”
  5. “Never use these three words in the dojo: ‘Oops’, ‘but’ and ‘can’t’. ‘Oops’ means there was already an accident and one should be self aware to avoid it before it happens. ‘But’ is often followed by an excuse to not do something; ie “I would do 10 push-ups BUT I’m tired.” ‘Can’t’ just shouldn’t be used ever! It is a defeatist mentality and not a welcome characteristic.”
